Gli Arctic Monkeys sono i vincitori degli NME Awards 2014

Gli Arctic Monkeys hanno dominato gli NME Awards 2014 raccogliendo ben cinque premi, tra cui i prestigiosi Best British Band, Best Live Band e Best Album. La cerimonia di premiazione, che si è tenuta alla O2 Academy di Londra ieri sera, ha incoronato anche altri vincitori come Paul McCartney, Damon Albarn e Lily Allen.

Alex Turner, al momento di ritirare la statuetta come Migliore Live Band, ha dichiarato:

Quando il sole tramonta sulla stagione dei premi per un altro anno ce ne sono rimasti solamente due grandi. Sto parlando degli Oscar e degli NME Awards.

Il premio Best Solo Artist è andato a Lily Allen, che si è detta orgogliosa di vincere in questa categoria:

Questo è una specie di scherzo perchè David Bowie era nella stessa categoria e Jake Bugg anche, quindi questo va a voi ragazzi, non a me.

E per quanto riguarda le boyband? Harry Styles ha battuto Miley Cyrus e Robin Thicke vincendo il premio Villain of the Year per il secondo anno consecutivo, mentre il premio Worst Band è andato a The 1975, che hanno fatto peggio di One Direction e The Wanted.
