Nicki Minaj: la copertina di Anaconda è ispirata a Madonna

Nicki Minaj sostiene che la controversa copertina del nuovo singolo "Anaconda" le sia venuta in mente pensando a Madonna: la rapper infatti voleva seguire le orme della Material Girl, che non ha mai smesso di innovare e far discutere. Ecco cosa ha detto al dj radiofonico Ryan Seacrest:

All'inizio della mia carriera, ho fatto foto del genere... e non voglio perdere il senso di chi sono. Una delle persone che ho ammirato molto è stata Madonna. Non ha mai smesso di correre dei rischi e anch'io non voglio smettere di farlo.

Qualche giorno fa, Nicki ha ricevuto un sacco di critiche - ma anche qualche complimento - per la copertina di "Anaconda", che la ritrae praticamente nuda in perizoma e scarpe da ginnastica. Ha rivelato di essere subito stata attratta dalla fotografia, scattatadurantea una ripresa video:

Per qualche strana ragione quella particolare immagine si è distinta ai miei occhi. E ho chiesto al mio manager Gee: 'Devo pubblicare questa immagine?' Non l''ho mai visto comportarsi così, è stato come: 'Uh, non lo so. Devo pensarci'... Non lo capivo perché di solito è rilassato. E poiché non voleva che la pubblicassi, l'ho fatto.

Nicki ha anche parlato del remix di "Flawless" per Beyoncé. Le due artiste, dopo essersi sentite online, si sono incontrate in uno studio di New York:
