Bob Dylan, i 70 anni shock del Menestrello di Duluth

Oggi Bob Dylan compie 70 anni, ma le celebrazioni per questo compleanno del Menestrello di Duluth rischiano di essere messe in ombra da alcune sue vecchie confessioni shock rilasciate negli anni '60 alla BBC.

Rischiano di essere ricordati come i 70 anni shock di Bob Dylan quelli che il cantante compie oggi. Tant'è che molti articoli scritti per celebrare vita e opere del Menestrello di Duluth hanno virato decisamente direzione verso un tono più da gossip.

D'altronde le confessioni shock che Bob Dylan fece ai microfoni della BBC nel 1966 non sono cosa da niente: "Sono uscito dalla dipendenza da eroina a New York. Sono diventato molto teso, voglio dire molto molto teso e ho smesso. Ero solito spendere 25 dollari al giorno in eroina, e ho smesso", rivelava l'icona folk rock americana all'amico e giornalista Robert Shelton.

Il cantautore, vero nome Robert Allen Zimmerman, era intenzionato a fare di più, un gesto che avrebbe privato il mondo di un musicista eccelso.  Bob Dylan, infatti, oltre ad essere nel giro dell'eroina, stava anche pensando al suicidio: "Morire per me non è niente, se posso morire velocemente. Ammetto d'aver pensato al suicidio ma ne sono uscito", ha detto nell'intervista. Ma c'è di più: "Mi sparerei al cervello se le cose andassero male. Mi butterei da una finestra, mi sparerei davvero. Penso alla morte in modo aperto, sai".

Per fortuna le cose sono andate diversamente e dopo il 1966 Bob Dylan ha continuato nella sua musica, arrivando sano e salvo a questi 70 anni storici. 

Ma l'influenza del Menestrello di Duluth è stata tale da influenzare anche la società stessa: pezzi come Blowin' in the wind, The Times They are A-Changin', A hard rain's a-gonna fall e Masters of war sono diventati presto dei veri e proprio inni dei movimenti controculturali e pacifisti americani.

La sua Blowin' in the wind è stata cantata innumerevoli volte durante le varie manifestazioni per la pace dei giovani hippie americani, che protestavano contro la guerra in Vietnam. 

Da quella prima fase attivista, poi, il giovane Bob Dylan è cambiato profondamente, assumendo diverse vesti e rifiutando ogni catalogazione: è stato ed è ancora poeta maledetto, bluesman in versione bianca, icona folk americana, antesignano del rock cantautoriale e molto altro.

La sua carriera, intanto, prosegue e attraversa il tempo: a 70 anni il Menestrello di Duluth, piccolo centro del Minnesota che gli ha dato i natali, continua a girare il mondo in quello che gli altri definiscono il "Never Ending Tour". Dylan, infatti, dal 1998 tiene decine di concerti ogni anno, arrivando anche in paesi "caldi" per i suoi trascorsi da pacifista, come la Cina e il Vietnam.

Oggi Bob Dylan è un vispo vecchietto di 70 anni, ma l'età in quei profondi occhi blu è solo un numero. Le palpebre sono un po' appesantite, è vero, ma la voce e le idee non cambiano. 

E lui, sempre defilato, contina a guardare e raccontare il mondo con il suo mezzo sorriso sprezzante.
