David Gilmour: The Endeless River sarà l'ultimo album dei Pink Floyd

David Gilmour, il cantante e chitarrista dei Pink Floyd, ha dichiarato che quasi sicuramente "The Endeless River" sarà l'ultimo album in carriera della band inglese. In un'intervista alla BBC 6 ha detto "Questa è l'ultima cosa che verrà fuori da noi".

Il disco è un omaggio al tastierista Rick Wright, scomparso nel 2008, che secondo Gilmour è stato "sottovalutato dal pubblico, dai media e anche da noi, lo odio dire". L'album uscirà il 10 novembre e conterrà materiale registrato da Wright prima della sua morte.

Non gli ho sempre dato il giusto merito. Le persone hanno atteggiamenti molto diversi nel modo di lavorare e possiamo diventare molto critici e pensare che qualcuno non stai dando tutto quello che ha, senza rendersi conto che il loro è un modo diverso di dare.

L'altro superstite dei Pink Floyd, il batterista Nick Mason, ha aggiunto:

È una grande opportunità per riconoscere, ricordare e magari dargli qualche riconoscimento anche in ritardo.

La band è stata fondata a Londra nel 1965 da Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters e Richard Wright. Gilmour è entrato nel gruppo nel 1967, mentre Barrett, che soffriva di problemi di salute mentale, è uscito un anno più tardi e, dopo un'importante carriera solista, è morto nel 2006.

I loro album, tra cui "The Dark Side Of The Moon", "The Wall" e "Wish You Were Here", hanno influenzato tutta la musica dagli anni '60 in poi, diventando vere pietre miliari del rock. Ce la farà anche "The Endeless River"?
